Today is Pancake Tuesday

Pancake Tuesday or Shrove Tuesday is a day of celebration as well as penitence, because it's the last day before Lent.
Lent is a time of abstinence, of giving things up. So Shrove Tuesday is the last chance to indulge yourself, and to use up the foods that aren't allowed in Lent. Pancakes are eaten on this day because they contain fat, butter and eggs which were forbidden during Lent.

Craig & Susan,

Linda Whitson just gave me your web address describing your adventure in Dublin. My wife Jocelyn, son Liam, and I will be heading to Galway for five months early next year. I will be conducting lecturing and research under a Fulbright Scholarship to National University of Ireland, Galway.

Anyway, I think your pictures are fabulous. And it looks like you both are having a great time! Any tips for yanks living in Ireland are welcome. I will be checking this blog periodically for updates. If you see any thing of particular note, please e-mail me at SarrD@sou.edu as time allows.
